Steam trains

The NYMR is one of the country's most popular heritage railways. The steam trains of the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, run the 18mile stretch between Grosmont and Pickering, through the beautiful scenery of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park, stopping at Goathland, Levisham and Newton Dale. Goathland station is one of the most attractive stations, and has been the setting for many TV and film scenes.

Summer 2005 saw the start of a trial service right through from Whitby to Pickering (stopping at all stations in between). Now you can travel from Goathland to Whitby for the day by steam train, on most days throughout the summer.
